- Duke's Mom - A Story of SurvivalThis young women has been through unimaginable experiences. Yet, she comes through as a strong person of faith. The best part is that she didn't allow the kidnapping to define her. She has moved on and states that she is happily married and enjoying life. If we think we have problems, when we finish a book like this, I'm hoping we can see how fortunate we actually are. I am pleased she shared her story.
- zattack "-Z" - Improving on an already great bookNo errata so far, if you are waiting for errata, you can keep waiting. The authors gave me and about 3000 other students a chance to edit the 2013 edition for a couple months before its release in Jan 2013. I can tell you that the editing box was riddled with comments and suggestions that they took to heart. The comments and changes resulted in what I believe to be the best first aid yet, a first aid that conveys the information more concisely without the extra book of errata that accompanies the 2012 FA.
Other notes:
Addition of more information to supplement such as a drug tox chart and other things that are really high yield.
The embryo section was split into organ systems
I strongly urge you to buy this book if you are studying for step 1. I believe it an essential part for those few months we have to study.
Im going to get back to it. Good luck everyone! - Cymbeline "cymln" - For a Vermonter, this is an essential read.Amity Shlaes has written a wonderful book, full of facts and snippets which give insight into Silent Cal. Some many things which I learned not only about Coolidge, but the time in which he lived and how the political world was adapting to the changes in technology. For me, personally, it was fascinating to read about the times in which my parents lived as teenagers, and helped explain the psychology of Vermont, the northeast and the rest of the country. My dad was an early adopter of aviation, so fun to read what was happening in that emerging field. I would whole-heartedly recommend.
- Nicola Mansfield - MesmerizingUtterly amazing! It is hard to believe this is the author's first novel! A book that picks you up from the first pages and carries you along for an incredible emotional ride until its final page. I am especially attracted to books that deal with death and the everlasting life and when I heard about this book I was intrigued to say the least. A very unique concept that I haven't come across before which made me think of a reverse sort of "Rapture" that was all the fad some years ago. Instead of people disappearing ... what if the dead returned? Brilliant idea and carried off so well. Written in a third person narrative with alternating chapters from the point of view of a "Returned" person. Some of the Returned appear once while others tell their story over several of these chapters. As a Christian I'm always leery going into a mainstream book like this on how the author will deal with the issue of religion and I was pleasantly surprised to find two of the major characters were Christian, the 8yo's mother and the small town's preacher. These characters were both strong in their faith and endured crises of doubt. Other characters were strongly atheist and altogether the author handled this aspect extremely realistically and wrote his characters beautifully. His expert use of language makes it no surprise when one reads his short bio. to find out that Mott is a previously published poet. I am thoroughly head over heels in love with this story and found the ending to be pure poetry itself. After reading the novel I found out about the trilogy of prequels and read them as well. They can be read either first, as published, or after as I did, for a return to this amazingly unique world.
- Lici-1964 - LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the Outlander Series!I have been a HUGE fan of Diana Gabaldon for a long time now and really enjoyed The Voyager. It's a great love story that surpasses time. Filled with history, adventure, lost love, new love and just the right amount of sex. The characters come to life with every turn of the page and it's very difficult to put down. The love that is shared in this book left me craving for a man just like Jamie. I highly recommend this book and the series. I would warn you though, that the later books can tend to drag in places, leaving you wanting Diana to just get on with the story, but if you love the characters as much as I did you will want to continue reading.
